News Release – 30 March 1999

HUMANISTS BOYCOTT BANK OF SCOTLAND

The Humanist Society of Scotland has moved its accounts away from the Bank of Scotland because of the Bank’s partnership with the homophobic US Christian evangelist Pat Robertson. In addition, the Society’s Council has tabled a motion to be put to its AGM in Stirling on 17 April urging any members with an account at the Bank of Scotland to follow its example.

Welcoming the news, George Broadhead of the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association said: “This move is in line with the consistent and unequivocal support given by the Humanist movement worldwide to lesbian and gay rights”.
