Paddick Speaks Personally
KENILWORTH, 28 APRIL 2003 — The controversial gay police commander Brian Paddick will be talking to the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) in London on Friday 9 May.
Commander Paddick is the country’s most senior openly gay police officer. His outspoken comments on a number of issues have made him one of the tabloids’ favourite hate figures.
He will talk about how the police can serve the lesbian and gay community and lift the lid on his own experiences as Lambeth’s controversial Borough Commander and its most prominent gay officer.
GALHA Chairperson Derek Lennard commented: “Brian Paddick is a man who happily speaks his mind – a habit that has sometimes landed him in hot water. We hope he’ll shed some light on how it feels to be one of the best-known gay figures in the country, and how he has survived his hounding from the British press. It should be a stimulating, enlightening and provocative evening.”
The public meeting will be held at 7.30 pm on Friday 9 May 2003 in the Library at Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London WC1 (nearest Tube: Holborn).
Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
