The Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) has welcomed the decision of the Bank of Scotland to ditch Christian evangelist Pat Robertson, but it has renewed its call on the lesbian and gay community (made in January this year) to boycott Laura Ashley call on the lesbian and gay community (made in January this year) to boycott Laura Ashley which employs Robertson as a non-executive director.
GALHA spokesperson Roy Saich said: “This trouncing of Robertson should send a clear message to ultra-homophobic Christian pressure groups in the United States that they cannot expect to export their anti-gay hate-mongering to the UK with impunity. However, now that the Bank of Scotland has been forced to sever its connection with Robertson, we must persuade Laura Ashley to do likewise.”
